Where It All Began
The property has been around for years and years operated as a restaurant, bar, lounge. Yes, it’s true and the stories that have been told by customers who frequented this historical property over the last 40 years are also true. Historically, named The Blue Lantern Lounge for the longest period of time, in 2006, the property re-opened as the Blue Lantern Lounge once again with a face lift. Oh yes, the outside may look somewhat the same…like a residential tavern…but don’t be fooled, inside is where all the magic happened. From the warm decor, to the granite bar, to the patio dining, to the eclectic food…many customers feel they stepped into a downtown restaurant or something from Manhattan and then they realize they are in Elma, NY. So, with all of the changes since 2006, we simply refer to the “old Blue Lantern” as the NEW Blue Lantern – some even just call this “THE BLUE”.
The Blue Lantern Lounge, with owners Tom and Donna Pease, has been open since June, 2006.
The entire building, inside and out, has gone through both extensive renovations and many modifications, updates and decor changes over the years.
Tom and Donna relocated to WNY from Las Vegas in the spring of 2005 and since have been enjoying the Buffalo area. From banking to restaurant ownership and a real estate business with Howard Hanna for Donna. Prior banking, restaurant management with Pebble Beach’s Tap Room, Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch in Carmel, Highland Inn’s Pacific Edge in California and House of Blues, Charlie Palmer’s in Las Vegas for Tom. The Pease’s are hands on owners, are on sight most often and have enjoyed serving their guests over the years, now many of whom have become very good friends.
The atmosphere at the Blue Lantern Lounge, known to many over the years as The Blue Lantern, The Blue, da Blue and maybe a few other pet names is casual; yet the food and drinks served are of the highest quality and the service and staff are top notch. The Blue Lantern is a gathering spot for South towns local residents and so many more from new guests in neighboring towns.
The menu changes seasonally with few changes. Few, as much of the menu items have become guest favorites so removing or changing is not what anyone is looking for. Generally said, the menu is tweaked slightly. Our weekend’s are for chef food features to give our chefs autonomy to create interesting dishes that may become an item we include in one of our menu changes.
The Blue Lantern is a dinner only restaurant with seasonal patio dining – April through October. The patio provides covered seating while enjoying the outdoor aspect as long as the weather permits.
The Blue is known for fabulous cocktails and creative martini’s. The Lavender Blueberry Lemon Drop is a signature martini since 2009 – concocted by Donna, a 30-year mixologist, the martini was inspired while on a trip in San Diego. Craft beers, fine wine and expertly made cocktails are part of the trendy bar experience.
Tom and Donna invite you to experience The Blue Lantern Lounge.
